Focused one-hour consultation

Memory consultation and strategy training

Practical guidance for people noticing everyday memory difficulty, with evidence-informed strategies that can be put to use beyond the appointment.

What to expect

A focused session for everyday memory

The consultation begins with your memory concerns, the situations in which they arise and the strategies you currently use. The session then introduces principles of cognitive health and practical methods for learning and recalling information.

A central technique is spaced retrieval: practising recall at progressively longer intervals. Examples are developed around your own routines so the strategy can be continued after the appointment.

Who it may help

For early or everyday memory concerns

Changes with age

For adults noticing mild changes in memory who want a structured way to strengthen everyday recall.

After injury or illness

For people adjusting to memory difficulty following brain injury, neurological illness or another health event.

Proactive support

For people interested in cognitive health and practical memory habits before difficulties become more disruptive.

Important distinction

Consultation is not diagnostic assessment

This service provides education and strategy training. It does not determine the cause of memory problems and is not a substitute for medical care or neuropsychological assessment when diagnosis is the question.

If your concern is new, worsening or affecting safety and independence, speak with your healthcare provider. You can also contact Sharp Thinking to ask which service may be appropriate.
